Worship Services and Coffee Hour
Worshiping Safely During Covid-19
While our doors are currently closed due to COVID restrictions, we invite you to join our virtual worship services on Sundays at 10:00am via Zoom, or view past worship services, sermons, and more on our YouTube channel. Keep up with what’s going on at Crawford by subscribing to our Newsletter.
When it is safe to do so, we look forward to resuming:
Regular Sunday Worship
8:30 am Communion Service
A weekly early service which includes communion every week. Childcare is provided.
9:30 am Sunday School – All Ages
See our Christian Education section for in-depth information about Sunday School, starting in preschool and going through adulthood. Childcare is provided.
10:45 am Worship Service
Our weekly, full morning worship service, including music by our Chancel and Handbell choirs. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month in this service. Childcare is provided.
Summer Services – Late June through Early September
9:00 am Summer Worship
During the summer, Crawford has only one service on Sundays. It’s a smaller but lively congregation, with a festive and casual summer atmosphere. Summer services run late June through the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Childcare is provided.
Special Services – Christmas and Easter
Christmas Eve Services
6:00 pm Family Service
An interactive pageant to immerse the congregation in the Christmas story.
10:30 pm Gathering Music
A time of reflection and a chance to get centered for the candlelight service, usually featuring a local string quartet or brass quintet.
11:00 pm Candlelight Service
A service of Lessons & Carols featuring the choir, organ, plus strings and/or brass, ending with the singing of Silent Night by candlelight at the stroke of midnight.
7:00 am Sunrise Service
Weather permitting, the sunrise service is held on Sandy’s Island in downtown Winchester. This is an informal, brief service led by the youth of the congregation, and is followed by a light breakfast at the church.
10:45 am Easter Worship
All the pageantry of Easter, with choir, brass, and more. The worship is followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on the grounds of the church.
Coffee hour is a time for fellowship, a time to catch up with old friends and make a few new ones. Please join us immediately after the 10:45 am service in Gifford Hall. We also have a volunteer-provided coffee hour in the summer following the 9:00 am service.
How you can help
Coffee hour responsibility is assigned on a rotating basis by last name; assignments are listed for each Sunday on our calendar. If your name begins with the last letters listed, you are asked to bring something sweet or savory that week. The team each week is also responsible for set up and clean up. One family or person should bring a carton of half and half, and the rest of the families should bring edibles for adults or snacks for the children. If you cannot make it that Sunday, please trade your spot with someone so we always have coverage.
If you haven’t helped at coffee hour before, please jump in. The team of folks who are there each week would be happy to show you how you can help.
The Membership Committee sees that there are sufficient supplies of coffee, tea, sugar, napkins, hot and cold beverage cups, and drink mix (for the children). When you see that the kitchen is low on one of these items, please notify a Membership Committee member.
