Your First Visit
We are looking forward to your first visit for worship! When you join us, you will find a warm, welcoming, and intentionally seeking community of people; some of whom are families, some single, some children, some elders, some people live in Winchester, some are from adjacent towns, and others are from other states. We welcome all people to join us as we seek to love God and serve others.
Our favorite way to welcome visitors is in-person, so we can get to know you over a cup of coffee or tea and a sweet or savory treat during coffee hour, following the service. But if, as has become more common over the past couple of years, your first visit is online, please know that we are thrilled to have you join us. If you’d like to learn more about Crawford, please email Pastor Anne, or reach out via our online contact form.
What Happens on Sunday Mornings?
We worship in person in our beautiful sanctuary at 10:00 on Sunday morning. (Weather permitting, we meet during spring and summer a little closer to creation, under the tent in front of our church.) Our services are also streamed live on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month – the United Methodist Church practices open communion, meaning all who have come to worship are welcome to take communion.
Our adult study groups usually meet at 9:00 on Sunday morning. Volunteer-led sessions, usually lasting 4-6 weeks, are offered on a variety of topics from Bible studies to spiritual growth.
Childcare for children under the age of 5 is available during worship in our nursery, downstairs. Everyone who works with children at Crawford Memorial UMC has been background checked, and we adhere to the safe sanctuaries policies and procedures set forth by the New England Conference.
Following the worship service, we gather in Gifford Hall for coffee hour, featuring good food and fellowship. We hope you’ll join us!
What You will See and Hear
We are a progressive Christian church that grounds itself in the love of Jesus Christ as understood in the scriptures of the Christian faith. We intentionally seek to live out the greatest commandment (Mark 12:28, Matthew 22:34-40, Luke 10:25-29) by choosing to love every minute, every day. Sometimes we are good at choosing love, and sometimes not so much, but as a community we are committed to God and to one another for the whole journey. With this in mind, we won’t tell you what you must believe. We leave plenty of room for believers, questioners and questioning believers. Let’s grow love together!
