Stars

Stars

This week’s Music Meditation is Stars by Eriks Esenvalds. It is a fitting homage to the psalm for this week, Psalm 19, which begins “The Heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.” The poet of Stars, Sara Teasdale, meditates on the beauty of God’s handiwork of the firmament, finally acknowledging:

And I know that I
Am honored to be
Witness
Of so much majesty

The meditation this week was recorded by Roots in the Sky, a professional chamber choir from Bozeman, MT.

Adult Study

Adult Study

Our new adult study begins next week on February 21st. Kim Burke will lead us in a discussion of the book, Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion Through Ten Objects, by Jill Duffield. The author hopes that this book “opens our eyes and ears to the certain providence and power of God, allowing us to lower our anxiety about the future, lessen our burdens about the past, and free us to follow Jesus in faith right here and now.” Details on our Adult Study page.

Special MLK Service

Special MLK Service

On Sunday, January 17, Crawford had a special online service to recognize the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and the way that intersects with the tension-filled days that are filling the nation right now. At this time of year, it is common at school assemblies and public events to hear Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech read aloud, often from memory. However, Dr. King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail seems a more fitting tribute this year.  You can watch the service here.
